A good example of a faithful person in the Bible is David. He was to watch over his father's sheep. An important but simple task given to him. He did this diligently, he watched over the sheep diligently and excellently. He went to the extent of protecting the sheep from danger.  He rescued the sheep from a lion and a bear. He explained this to king Saul at the battle front.

"And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when He arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.  Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing He hath defied the armies of the living God. David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, He will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee."   1 Samuel 17:34-36.

This is diligence and excellence.

Before he went to the battle from, he left the sheep in the hands of someone to take care of them while he was away. .

"And David rose up early in the morning, and left the sheep with a keeper, and took, and went, as Jesse had commanded him; and He came to the trench, as the host was going forth to the fight, and shouted for the battle." 1 Samuel 17:20

He didn't leave the sheep, rushing off to meet his brothers at the battle front, he left his work in perfect condition before he left. This is diligence and excellence.  He was concerned about the sheep, he was concerned about his work. Hallelujah!

We also note from that Chapter, he left his carriage in the hand of a keeper.

"And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren." 1 Samuel 17:22

God saw all these, took note of his character and promoted him. God promoted David because of these qualities he displayed. God recognized and promoted him to be the king of Israel.

So when next you are given an assignment to carry out, carry it out diligently and responsibly, add diligence to the character of your faithfulness.
The Bible says,
"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and He that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much." Luke 16:10.
